Sergio closes the deal
First off, I apologize no posts in awhile. I had one of my students from Canada fly down here for some instruction. We had some good rounds and got some things accomplished.
Congratulations to Sergio Garcia. He finally got the monkey off his back. Obviously, the press can be cruel to a point that is all you can think about. The constant questioning of when are you going to be able to win has to affect the psyche. Folks tend to forget, just because these guys are on tour does not mean they are not human. Anyway, the tournament had the duel of two opposites. The striker of the ball and the short game player. Both were more than average this week. It should show the average golfer you can win either way. So it’s just as important to practice short game as well as the long game. For example: the other day the driving range was closed due to the large amount of rain we had. By the way, people are not pleasant when they don’t get their way! So, when they were told the range was closed, their response was kind of nasty. Then to each one i said the short game area was still open and they could work on their chipping and putting. To a man each one responded that was something they should probably do. duh! let me put it this way, it’s hard to knock a driver in the hole. If Sergio had the short game Paul Goydos has, he would have won going away and would probably give Tiger a run for his money.
Charter (my dog) is having fun chasing the geese off the golf course. I’m going to play in John Daly’s charity tournament this weekend. It is held at the course he bought in his home town and benefits Big Brothers. I hope to have some breaking news come Sunday.
